  • PCs running Windows 10+
  • Apple Silicon or Intel-based Macs running macOS 10.12+
  • Apple TV, Fire TV, or Roku device platforms using the Sundance Film Festival Player TV app
  • Android tablets and phones using Chrome
  • iPhone and iPads using Safari
  • Chromecast via computer or Android phone

Important: Due to content protection restrictions, screen mirroring cannot be used.

Watch Windows

Be sure to start the screening by 11:55 p.m. MT and finish watching within the allotted viewing period as follows:

  • 12 hours for Indie Episodic
  • 5 hours for Feature Films
  • No time limit on Short Films

Note: Online packageholders cannot watch the same film twice. Packageholders can make up to two ticket selections per film, but the second ticket will have to be gifted to another attendee.

Q&As

Q&As will be available to watch online for a selection of live in-person feature film screenings only, subject to filmmaker availability. They will be recorded and play immediately after the credits following a film’s online screening and count towards your 5-hour watch window. Q&As will not be available to watch on demand, nor will they be posted on film detail pages to view later.

International Audiences

Feature films and select Short Films will not be available internationally due to rights restrictions. We invite you to watch talks and events online, which are free for all audiences.

We curate bold and creative films that can be provocative and are not suitable for all audiences. Please read the film description in our Festival Program Guide prior to reserving a film to ensure the film is appropriate for all viewers in your group.

A Note About World Cinema Packages

Online World Cinema packages include 10 tickets to World Cinema films, World Cinema award-winners, and international films. For international film screenings, search the Festival Program Guide > Interest Tracks > “International”; please note that not all international films will be shown online.

A Note About New Frontier

New Frontier is presently being reimagined and will not offer a program at this year’s Festival.

How to Watch

There are many different ways to watch the Festival online. You can watch from your browser, on your TV, and with the Sundance Film Festival app.

All ticketholders and eligible passholders must be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published screening start time.

There are two new apps for this year’s 2023 Festival that are free and available for download. Please note that Festival apps from previous years (2022 and earlier) will not work.

View content on your browser, on your television, and on the Sundance Film Festival Player app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play store).

Explorer Pass and packageholders have access to Short Film programs and Indie Episodic screenings on the days that their pass/package is valid.

All Festival tickets this year will be digital, and we will not be issuing physical tickets. Once at a venue, you will need to present your QR code…

Here’s how you can sign up for your film’s waitlist for in-person screenings.

We ask that you enjoy Festival films as they were intended: to be viewed in theaters and in small home gatherings, and streamed on the Sundance Film Festival digital platform.

We appreciate your interest in New Frontier at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. New Frontier is presently being reimagined and will not offer a program at this year’s Festival.
