When to Arrive
All ticketholders and eligible passholders must be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s screening start time. All Festival tickets are now digital; we will not be issuing physical tickets for in-person screenings.
Ratings
The majority of projects in our Festival program have not been rated. We curate bold and creative films that can be provocative and are not suitable for all audiences. Please read the film description in our Festival Program Guide prior to reserving a film to ensure the film is appropriate for all viewers in your group.

Notes on Sharing
Please read our Anti-Piracy Statement for information about attending in-person screenings and events.

Parking
This page will be updated periodically with current parking information.
Our 10-day Festival welcomes more than 100,000 attendees across two locations: Park City and Salt Lake City. These cities are separated by a 35–40 minute drive, so plan your schedule accordingly.
Park City Parking
Please help reduce traffic congestion by parking at a free park-and-ride location, or using the paid parking garage near Main Street. All lots operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking near Headquarters is extremely limited, so we suggest you use the free Festival shuttle system to get around. Walking is also a great option in Park City. The lighted pedestrian paths and sidewalks throughout town are often the quickest way to get around.
To learn more about accessible parking, please see our Accessibility resources.
Free Parking
The Ecker Hill Park & Ride (at 2500 Kilby Road, off of the Jeremy Ranch exit from I-80) offers free shuttles directly to Kimball Junction, the Canyons Transit Hub, and Main Street.
The Richardson Flat Park & Ride (off of Kearns Boulevard exit from Highway 40) offers free shuttles directly to Eccles Theater.
Paid Parking
The China Bridge parking garage (at 420 Swede Alley) near Main Street offers parking at variable daily rates but doesn’t include re-entry. This parking garage offers easy access to the Egyptian Theatre, Festival stores on Main Street, Festival Co-Op, and Filmmaker Lodge. This facility usually fills up early, so plan accordingly.
Salt Lake City Parking
Broadway Centre Cinemas
There’s a paid parking garage east of the theater. If you’re attending a Festival film, please park on Levels 4–8 and pay at the exit gate.
Rose Wagner Center
Street parking is metered Monday–Friday (hours noted on location) and is free at all other times (with a two-hour maximum on Saturday). Download the ParkSLC app (iPhone and Android) for easy payment. Paid parking lots are also located east and south of the theater.

Theaters, Rules, & Regulations
At Sundance Institute, we believe in the magic of the cinematic experience. Nothing can match the feeling of discovering a new filmmaker or movie alongside other independent-film lovers. To honor our filmmakers’ craftsmanship, all of our theaters are outfitted with Dolby Digital Sound and projected with Barco D-Cinema projectors.

Theater Rules & Regulations
All Festival patrons must adhere to the following rules, which will be posted at each theater or venue:
- Ticketholders and eligible passholders must be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time to give you the best chance of admission.
- The use of cameras, cell phones, or other recording equipment during screenings is strictly prohibited.
- By entering the theater, each patron consents to be photographed/filmed and grants Sundance Institute and its successors and partners — including credentialed members of the press, carrier stations, network station(s), sponsor(s), advertising agents, and their affiliated entities — the right to record and use their likeness, voice, and name worldwide in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever. In addition, each patron releases the above parties from any and all liability for loss or damage to person or property while they are at or around the theater.
- All cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off prior to the start of the film.
- No babies in arms or strollers are permitted in theaters.
- Pets (except for service animals) are prohibited.
- Attendees must take all personal belongings and litter with them upon exit. Any items left behind may be disposed of.
- The Sundance Film Festival reserves the right to search the personal belongings of any patron inside or around the theater and/or venue premises.
- All attendees agree to comply with all published and stated rules and regulations.
Theater-Specific Access
In-person attendees who require accessibility-related accommodations, such as a wheelchair space or an assistive listening device, should speak with a Festival staff member as soon as they arrive. Please see Accessibility Resources for more information.
Lost & Found
If you lose an item, first check the place where you think you left it. If you cannot find it, please file a claim (include what, when, where, and your contact) as soon as possible. Watch Award-Winners Screenings
Please review the following important information about Award-Winners screenings and events to ensure that you have the best Festival experience.
Winners Announcement
Winners will be announced on the platform on Friday, January 26, 2024.
How to Watch With an Award-Winners Package
In-person and online Award Winners Packageholders must make a ticket selection to secure a spot at an Award-Winners screening. Ticket selection begins on January 6, 2024. Both in-person and online screenings have capacity limits, so make your ticket selections early. Follow the directions below to make your ticket selections.
Note: If you are attending in person, please be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time to give you the best chance of admission.
How to Secure Your Spot at an Award-Winner’s Screening
The Festival Program Guide “Awards Winners” section currently lists category award-winner screenings. After the winners are announced on January 26, 2024, the screenings will change to the winning film title.
Here’s how to secure your spot for a category award-winner screening on your web browser:
- Sign in to your Sundance Film Festival account on your browser and click “Program” at the top of the page. Here, you can explore the Film Program Guide menus, download the program as a PDF, or use the “Search the Program” tool and search by filter.
- Navigate to the Award Winners category on the Festival Program Guide.
- Select the category that you’re interested in (please note that award winners will not be announced until January 26, so if you make your selections before then you will only know the category of the film you will be seeing and not the actual title of the film).
- Choose a screening time then click “Tickets.”
- Make your ticket selection from the pop-up that says “Ticket Options” (the pop-up will confirm the package or pass that you’re using, and the order will be $0). You will only be shown available tickets according to your package or pass.
- Agree to the Purchasing Terms.
- Press the Complete Order button to complete the order or select “Go Back” to exit.
Note: If you are attending in person, please be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time to give you the best chance of admission.
2024 Festival Apps
There will be a new mobile app for this year’s 2024 Festival. It’s free and available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. More information coming soon.
Important: Festival apps from previous years (2023 and earlier) will not work for the 2024 Festival.

Festival Health & Wellness Tips
The health of Sundance Institute’s artists, audiences, staff, and volunteers remains of the utmost importance to the Institute. If you feel sick, we ask that you stay home. While masks are not required, you are welcome to wear them. Masks will not be provided to all attendees but will be available upon request.
Health Tips
We recommend being especially diligent about taking care of your own health and wellness. Here are some health tips for taking care of yourself before and during the Festival:
- Get your annual flu shot and COVID-19 booster prior to the Festival.
- Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing.
- Sanitize or wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water (hand-sanitizing stations will be placed at all venues).
- Keep an eye on how you’re feeling — even if you think you have just a little cold, please stay back from in-person events until you feel healthy again.
- Test yourself for COVID-19 if you feel unwell.
- Avoid shaking hands and making unnecessary physical contact with others when possible.

Wellness Tips
Here are some wellness tips to help you feel your best leading up to and during the Festival:
- Staying hydrated is critical to your health when in a location with an increased altitude like Park City. Plan to drink an extra 1 to 1.5 liters of water daily. Carry a water bottle and fill it up at our water stations at theaters and venues.
- Continue your mental and physical routines while at the Festival. Take time to rest, stretch, meditate, and recharge to stay feeling your best.
- Fuel your body with healthy food, keeping high-protein snacks on hand and avoid skipping meals.
- Sleep is crucial in keeping your immune system at its best. Make sure you are prioritizing quality sleep during the Festival to avoid burnout.
Safety & Security Policies
We strive to be transparent about our security policies, which are in place to keep our Festival community safe. Here are the key security policies that we apply in order to protect our Festival community.
Bag and Jacket Checks
For the safety and comfort of our guests, all coats and bags will be inspected prior to admission to any official Festival venues. Guests refusing to submit to the bag and jacket inspection shall be refused entry. These checks are done by security vendors hired by Sundance Institute and do not include any physical touch of person or possession, and are limited to the following:
- Jackets and over-garments
- All bags, backpacks, purses, cases, and similar items
Large luggage and duffel bags are not permitted in any official Festival venues and cannot be stored anywhere on-site at a venue. Guests who arrive with large luggage or duffel bags will be required to remove them from the venue. Staff and personnel are not responsible for any bags or luggage left in a Festival venue.
Weapons are not permitted in official Festival venues. If you are carrying a weapon, we will ask that you return it to your vehicle or accommodation before entry.
Security Guards
Festival security guards are present at all official Festival venues and theaters, as well as at various events. Security guards are provided by our local security partners and are strategically placed at access points to keep our Festival community safe. All guards are unarmed and properly identified with their company logos.
18+ Films & Ratings
Certain films may have explicit content that is inappropriate for viewers under the age of 18. These films will be identified on our Festival website. Festival staff may request identification of minors for in-person screenings of age-restricted films. In addition, please note that the Festival films are not rated; viewer discretion is advised. Please read the film description in our Festival Program Guide prior to reserving a film to ensure the film is appropriate for all viewers in your group.
Partner Events
The Sundance Institute is proud to offer our partners the opportunity to program at our Festival. While we do not govern aspects of their events, they are subject to the rules set forth in our Community Agreement. Partner events serving alcohol may request identification.
Anti-Piracy
Sundance Institute will take appropriate action against attendees who attempt to pirate, exhibit, or record any Festival films or other Festival content. Please see our full Anti-Piracy Policy for more information.
Law Enforcement
While the Sundance Film Festival does our best to function independently, we operate under the jurisdiction of and alongside the Park City Police Department, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and Salt Lake City Police Department. All incidents that violate our Community Agreement are subject to an immediate and equitable review process with our third-party event ombuds, tEQuitable. Any Community Agreement violations that include criminal activity fall under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. We strongly encourage using the Sundance Film Festival reporting mechanisms listed in the Community Agreement to document instances that occur at the Festival.
Community Support & Resources
As we continue to innovate toward a more equitable and accessible future, we recognize that a collective commitment is foundational to the success of our Festival. With that, we ask that everyone do their part in creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, and inspiring by reviewing and committing to abide by our Community Agreement. Please reach out to conduct@sundance.org or use this link to report a Community Agreement violation.
In support of our community and commitment to belonging, we have provided some essential mental health, wellness, crisis, and intervention resources below.
Crisis Intervention and Support
For crisis intervention or support, we suggest reaching out to University of Utah Health, our Official Health & Wellness Sponsor, and Huntsman Mental Health Institute at Community Crisis Intervention & Support Services.
The Utah Crisis Line offers free, confidential support 24 hours a day for suicidal crisis or emotional distress. You can also use SafeUT to chat with a licensed counselor at Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Please select “Sundance” as your school.
A Safe Place to Get Advice
We are committed to providing an experience where everyone feels respected and has a sense of belonging.
tEQuitable is an independent third party that provides a confidential, neutral, and impartial resource available to everyone. There are no minimum requirements to make an appointment to speak to a tEQuitable Ombuds. If what you experienced felt inappropriate or made you feel uncomfortable, or if you have questions about our Safety and Belonging efforts here at the Festival, please reach out at tEQuitable Ombuds.
